Whether you're an experienced investor or first-time gold & silver buyer,
below are some considerations and red flags you might want
to keep in mind when determining which Gold IRA
company to work with.
Best of luck on your Gold IRA review process!
Make sure you are not over paying!
Gold IRA salespeople are not usually investment advisors. If they are pushing particular products, it is most likely because that is what will make them the most money.
Use online resources, like Kitco, to see live spot prices. Remember - the Gold IRA industry is under fire for charging ridiculous markups.
Why wouldn't a Gold IRA company provide a standard upfront markup above spot price for their products? If they require you to call for pricing, it's likely because they're just trying to see how much markup they can squeeze you for. This is a common Gold IRA scam.
Are you wasting your time - or money - on any exclusive or limited minted coins being pushed on you? Consider the commissioned salesperson's motivation (ie: charging you 50%-200% commission)
Are there monthly or annual fees for your Gold IRA? Do they charge you to close or move your account?
Be mindful of the account, custodian, and access you'll have with your Gold IRA
Is there an online dashboard you can log into and see your balances? If so, can you make purchases yourself or do they force you to call a salesperson to buy or sell assets?
Who actually holds the physical metals on your behalf and are they reputable?
You probably have an app or easily accessible website for all of your bank and retirement accounts. It is 2023... if a Gold IRA company hasn't set up basic technology, what might that say about their business & opinion of their clients overall?
It's not uncommon for excuses to surface when trying to sell-back your assets to Gold IRA companies. If it's a manual process and not an online transaction that you can do yourself, it might not be easy to liquidate or sell your assets.
